My Multimedia Projects!

Spectrum News Packages

During the first third of my nine-month fellowship with Spectrum News Austin, I trained as a multimedia journalist. This consisted of finding stories, reporting, shooting, writing, tracking and editing my own news packages to be reviewed by a team of multimedia managers across Texas.

The Texas Newsroom Live Newscasts

This past summer, I took the opportunity to fill-in as an anchor for the afternoon live newscasts for The Texas Newsroom. This means, at 4:32 and 5:32 PM on weekdays, anyone listening to an NPR station in Texas heard my voice delivering statewide headlines for two minutes. I practiced the scripts for an hour before going on-air remotely with an executive producer from Houston Public Media while operating from a studio in the KUT Newsroom. This work is a huge step forward for my journalism career. It's nerve-wracking yet so fun!

Radio Spots

Here are my audio stories that aired on KUT News 90.5, Austin's NPR station. I reported, wrote, recorded and edited all of these stories, and when on air, a host added context to the story before I spoke. These were recorded in summer 2024 during my time as an intern in KUT's newsroom. On top of these, I reported and wrote dozens of other newscast pieces that were read aloud on-air by the hosts. Now, I'm the host who does most of the talking during breaks!
